Selena Gomez puts on a brave face at premiere of Emilia Perez at Toronto film festival – after revealing she is unable to carry children
Selena Gomez put on a brave face as she arrived at the premiere of her new movie Emilia Perez on Monday, after speaking out about her infertility struggles.
The 32-year-old newly-named billionaire – who revealed that pregnancy is not an option for her – looked stunning on the red carpet in black sequined evening gown.
Emilia Perez is a Spanish-language French musical crime comedy film written and directed by Jacques Audiard, that also stars Zoe Saldana.
Gomez appeared to be all smiles for the cameras as she arrived, despite her comments that surfaced the same day as the premiere.
‘I unfortunately canโt carry my own children. I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the babyโs in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while,’ she told Vanity Fair.
Gomez suffers from Lupus, an autoimmune disease and had a kidney transplant in 2017. Additionally, she is on medication to manage her bi-polar disorder.
[But] Iโm in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me,’ she said.

The hitmaker’s mother, Mandy Teefey, was adopted and Gomez has said for years she is open to becoming a parent that way.
‘I probably wouldnโt be here [if Teefey hadn’t been adopted]. I donโt know what her life wouldโve been like. She and I are very thankful for how life played out
