Porażka Świątek w finale United Cup! Tenisowa wojna dla Gauff
Tenisowa wojna dla Coco Gauff! Iga Świątek przegrała z Amerykanką w dwóch setach 4:6, 4:6 stojący na niesamowitym poziomie mecz, a Polska przegrywa ze Stanami Zjednoczonymi w finale United Cup 0-1. Dla Świątek była to trzecia porażka z Amerykanką w historii, z którą w przeszłości zanotowała również 11 zwycięstw. Niedzielny mecz obfitował w emocje, szczególnie gdy Polka w końcówce poprosiła o przerwę medyczną, a Amerykanie nerwowo dyskutowali z sędzią spotkania. Po meczu nasza najlepsza tenisistka schodziła z kortu ze łzami w oczach.
Po niespełna tygodniu wielkich emocji reprezentacja Polski po raz drugi z rzędu weszła do finału United Cup. Wielki wkład w ten wynik włożyła Iga Świątek, która łącznie od poniedziałku zagrała już sześć meczów, cztery singlowe i dwa mikstowe, i co najważniejsze, wszystkie z nich wygrała.
Rywalizowała m.in. z Karoliną Muchovą, Jeleną Rybakiną i Katie Boulter, czyli z nazwiskami ze światowej czołówki. Dla wiceliderki rankingu WTA jest to doskonała okazja do szlifowania formy przed Australian Open. W niedzielę ponownie czekało ją niezwykle trudne zadanie, bo po przeciwnej stronie siatki stanęła Coco Gauff.
