Meghan Markle’s dad reveals why he’s leaving America and sends message to grandkids
Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas, has revealed his plans to leave America in 2025 as he sent a message to his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, in a new interview.
Mr Markle, who’s been estranged from his daughter since 2018, said that he wants to relocate from Rosarito, Mexico, where he now resides, to possibly South East Asia, in a bid to spend his final years with “kinder” people.
He told the Mail on Sunday: “I am getting away from the politics of the States that disappoints me. At 80, it is time to go somewhere where the people are lovely, and I can enjoy a quieter, friendlier existence.
“In South-East Asia the medical care is good, you can live reasonably cheaply, the people are kind and respect older people and the food is healthy.”
He added: “Mostly I just want peace. At 80, none of us know how long we have left. I want whatever time I have to be peaceful with none of the awful drama of recent years
Mr Markle, who has suffered two heart attacks and a stroke in recent years, has been living in Mexico for the past 10 years.
According to the outlet, his home was filled with several of Meghan’s pictures, including from her first wedding to Trevor Engelson, who he said he “really liked”.
