For Health and Safety: Kate Middleton Ditches Prince William’s Special Gift
The Princess of Wales Sparks Speculation by Ditching Prince William’s Precious Gift
Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, has left fans guessing after reportedly choosing to forgo the iconic engagement ring gifted to her by her husband, Prince William, for health and safety reasons.
During her recent visit to The Royal Marsden hospital, where she received cancer treatment, the Princess was noticeably missing a key piece of jewelry—her iconic sapphire and diamond engagement ring. This absence fueled rumors and speculation about her health and safety.
Instead, Kate opted to wear the sparkling eternity band she debuted last summer, alongside her gold wedding ring. Some have suggested that the decision to remove her engagement ring may have been made for practical reasons, as it could pose health and safety concerns.
The engagement ring, once belonging to Prince William’s late mother, Princess Diana, features 14 diamonds surrounding a stunning 12-carat oval blue Ceylon sapphire. The Princess is rarely seen without it, but over the past year, she has occasionally chosen to leave the precious jewel at home for public engagements. However, she did wear the ring for significant occasions, such as Trooping the Colour, Wimbledon, and Remembrance events.
Royal fans have speculated that Kate’s decision to wear the ring only on certain occasions could be due to the practicality of the large gemstones. It was previously reported that Prince William had the ring resized for Kate when he proposed in Kenya in 2010. However, the Princess confirmed during a visit to Wales in April 2023, saying, “Same ring and exactly the same – the same size.”
