Even at 38 years old, Djokovic never gives up on a point 😱😱😱
Novak Djokovic Wins ‘Point of the Year’ vs Miomir Kecmanovic at Wimbledon
Novak Djokovic showed that his competitive edge is still as strong as ever as he managed to win one of the points of the year so far against his countryman, Miomir Kecmanovic, in their third round clash at Wimbledon.
The Serbian hero is seeking to make history at SW19 by lifting a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam singles title – and his performance against Kecmanovic proved that he is one of the top contenders to take the crown. The 38-year-old cruised past Alexandre Muller and Dan Evans in his opening two matches to set up a clash with his Davis Cup partner Kecmanovic on Centre Court on Saturday.
The seven-time Wimbledon champion demonstrated his sheer will to win in the eighth game of the opening set, where he won one of the best points ever seen on Centre Court to take control of the match.

Novak Djokovic Wins Incredible Point at Wimbledon

Locked at deuce, with Djokovic 4-3 up in the first, the pair produced some scintillating tennis. Novak tried to test his pal with a number of drop shots in the early stages of the 14-stroke point, but Kecmanovic was up to the challenge. He then tried a lob to the back of the court, but this was also returned.
Just as Kecmanovic looked to be getting on top of the point, Djokovic produced a diving backhand shot near the net to settle the matter. In awe of what they had just seen, fans on Centre Court gave both men a standing ovation.
Despite losing the point in such outrageous fashion, Kecmanovic took the opportunity to have some fun with his compatriot, as he took a ball from his pocket and playfully threw it at Djokovic, who was sitting on the ground, soaking in the applause.
Djokovic would ultimately find the break shortly after claiming the point and would go on to win the opening set 6-3. He followed that up with a blistering performance in the second set as he won 6-0. He then secured the victory by taking the third set 6-4, setting up a meeting with Alex de Minaur in the round of 16 on Monday afternoon.
Having not tasted glory at Wimbledon since defeating Australian maverick Nick Kyrgios in the 2022 final, Djokovic will be hoping to maintain his strong form and land a record-equalling eighth title at the tournament. The 38-year-old has not quite played up to his usual standards in Grand Slams so far this year, but will be hopeful of a resurgence over the next week.
He retired hurt from his semi-final with Alexander Zverev at the Australian Open and also fell in the semis at the French Open, losing to world number one, Jannik Sinnner. Sinner, who went on to win the Australian Open, is considered to be one of the favourites for the Wimbledon trophy. Another strong contender is Carlos Alcaraz, who took home his second French Open title in an epic battle against Sinner last month.
Djokovic will need to be at his best to turn back the challenge of either man. However, if he is ever going to secure his elusive 25th Grand Slam title, this year’s Wimbledon likely represents his best opportunity.
