“Jego śmierć była bez sensu” – opowiedziała po latach jego bliska przyjaciółka. W rozmowie z 29 grudnia Zdzisława Sośnicka odwołała się do niepokojącego stanu muzyka w ostatnich dniach życia. Zdaniem piosenkarki, Zbigniew Wodecki narzucił sobie zbyt duże tempo. Był przemęczony, do tego stopnia, że nie potrafił odnaleźć się w przestrzeni. Zdarzało mu się zabłądzić, siedząc za kierownicą w drodze na kolejny koncert. Dzwonił wtedy do niej i prosił o pomoc:
