Kate Middleton has been seen ‘out and about more with her family’ in recent weeks as she continues her private cancer battle, sources have claimed.
The Princess of Wales revealed she was receiving treatment for the disease earlier this year, asking the public for ‘some time, space and privacy’ while she completed the course of chemotherapy. While the form of cancer was not disclosed, the royal mother-of-three offered the world a moving insight into her reaction to the diagnosis, and how she told her family of the news she was unwell.
While there have been no official updates on the royal’s health since, in recent weeks, Kate Middleton has been seen ‘out and about more’ with her family, according to MailOnline’s Rebecca English. Sources previously said the couple have been receiving help and support from the Princess’ parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, as well as her siblings, Pippa and James.
Speaking to People magazine, an unnamed insider said, ‘William is prioritising giving her all the time she needs to get better and the support, particularly to the children.’ According to sources, the Prince is ‘staying positive’ for his family, and relying on the ‘nuclear family unit’ of Kate’s supportive family; Carole, Michael, Pippa and James. Insiders went on to say Prince William has also developed a close bond with his father, who is also undergoing his own battle with cancer.
The latest update comes after Kensington Palace stressed the need for ‘space and time’ for the Princess to recover, with sources suggesting she won’t be returning to royal duty till the autumn at the earliest. ‘No one wants to put any pressure on Catherine,’ an insider told MailOnline last week, before suggesting that the Princess of Wales may continue to recuperate in private until autumn. ‘The only thing that matters at the moment is her getting better. She has been through an ordeal this year.’
While King Charles has been eager to return to public engagements – despite Wednesday’s snap General Election announcement – the source reiterated the Princess’ call for privacy and space, reminding the public that ‘there is no need for her to be seen while she’s recovering.’
