Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Share Heartfelt Statement on Kate Middleton’s Birthday
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Make Emotional Plea from California
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have issued a heartfelt statement, expressing their distress as they released their first public message following Prince William’s tribute to his wife, Kate Middleton, on her 43rd birthday.
In their emotional statement, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared their pain as wildfires continue to ravage California, with the couple emphasizing, “People have nothing.”
The Sussexes, who have been living in the high-risk fire zone for nearly five years with their two young children, Prince Archie (5) and Lilibet (3), expressed concern for their community as the wildfires intensify.
Having stepped back as working royals in 2020, Meghan and Harry appeared visibly moved as they offered resources and suggestions on how to support those affected by the devastation on their Sussex.com website.
Their statement reads: “In the past few days, wildfires in Southern California have torn through neighborhoods, devastating families, homes, schools, medical care centers, and much more—affecting tens of thousands from all walks of life.”
They continued, “If you feel compelled to help, here are some resources and ideas.”
The couple also urged people to contribute to the American Red Cross and to consider offering shelter to those impacted by the fires.
The message further read: “If a friend, loved one, or pet has to evacuate and you are able to offer them a safe haven, please do. Also, be sure to check in with any elderly or disabled neighbors to see if they need assistance with evacuation.”
