October 5, 67 Roman Jankowski is celebrating his birthday – former speedster, currently a coach. He spent almost his entire career in the Leszno Union (1976-2001). He won five team championship titles with this club. Individual was the best twice. Bronze medalist for the Team World Championships 1980. A participant in the 1987 and 1988 World Individual championship finals.

Many fans wonder what would happen if the current generation of Polish speed drivers had access to equipment as good quality as competitors from Western countries. For sure m. in. Jankowski’s account would see more international success. This does not change the fact, that it is an icon of Polish speedway, and in Leszno the chant “Roman Jankowski is the best Polish speedway driver” was playing
Currently Jankowski is a valued youth coach in the Lesczyn club.
He’s raised a lot of players already. Earlier, as a trainer of the senior team, he won the Polish team championship in 2010.
