Tesla vehicles targeted, set on fire at service center in Las Vegas, police say
LAS VEGAS (KVVU/Gray News) – Authorities in Las Vegas say Molotov cocktails were used to set vehicles on fire at a Tesla collision center.
According to the Clark County Fire Department, multiple calls came in about vehicles that were on fire at about 2:45 a.m. Tuesday at a Tesla repair shop in the south part of town.
Fire crews said the flames were contained to two Teslas, but five vehicles ended up being damaged in the fire.
The fires were extinguished before reaching the batteries.
Reports have come in nationally of Tesla vehicles being set on fire, primarily as acts of protest against Elon Musk’s political involvement and his role in the Trump administration.
Evans says the FBI is working to confirm if there is a connection to the national incidents.
During a Tesla event held at the White House last week, President Donald Trump gave a strict warning to those who commit any crime toward Tesla.
“You do it to Tesla and you do it to any company, we’re going to catch you and you’re going to go through hell,” Trump said.
Elon Musk called Tuesday’s fires “terrorism” in response to what had happened.
Additionally, Las Vegas police said they found ammunition that was used to shoot at the Tesla vehicles at the scene.
Authorities urged anyone with further information to contact them at 702-828-7777.
“Violent acts are unacceptable,” Evans said. “We will find you. We will prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law.”
